Ode to the missing journalists

working on the front-lines of history

you write the unreadable literature,

unravel the tangles of events,

risking your lives and liberty.

Yet for doing this indispensable work,

you have been seized by absolute power,

muzzled by fake authority,

eaten by the golden breath of supremacy

your language of poetry is seldom literally rough,

and the calm verses of your involvement is fairly accurate.

stories have been discovered in your whispered faces,

rhymes have been noticed in your words.

bearing witness

was not intended to lead

to your downfall.

clearly tragic incident,

it is extremely regrettable.

you’ve given a narrative sense to thousand lives.

We look up to you,

your courage and dedication

struggling against risk,

and outright brutality,

your death has given a new sense of urgency,

that democracy is missing.

Hold on,

continue the rumor of reality.
